The Day Before MMO Teases Jobs, Homes, and Saunas Post-Apocalypse
The Day Before, an MMO likened to The Division and The Last of Us, has unveiled features that resemble metaverse elements.
In an interview with Well Played, the Gotostev co-founders revealed the game’s focus on PvP interactions, though specifics on server capacity were withheld for a balance of dynamism and performance.
The game will feature ‘survival colonies’ in skyscraper settings, serving as safe zones for trading, communication, and questing. In these zones, players can undertake in-game jobs, relax in saunas, bars, or gyms, contributing to a vibrant community feel.
In-game jobs will enable players to purchase and customize personal houses, safe from attacks, where friends can gather.
While such MMO elements are familiar from games like Runescape, the addition of jobs and leisure activities hints at Metaverse parallels, suggesting a blend of virtual and social gaming akin to Web3 experiences. This reflects developer Fntastic’s ambitious vision for The Day Before, which has seen both high interest and skepticism due to a trademark-related Steam removal and a disappointing gameplay trailer post-delay. The community remains cautious, awaiting the game’s ability to fulfill its grand promises.
